Leelanau Historical Society presents
"Shipwrecks of the Manitou Passage - Loss & Legacy

LEELAND, MI – The Leelanau Historical Society's new exhibit brings the stories of major shipwrecks to life, and links the events and circumstances that surround them to modern times. Viewers will take a virtual plunge beneath the waves to see the work of divers and archeaoligists, and to share in many of the srecrets of the past.

The new exhibit launches with a special opening reception at the Leelanau Historical Museum between six and nine o'clock on Thursday evening, June 25, 2009. Thereafter, visitors are invited to enjoy the exhibit during regular museum hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Wednesday through Saturday.

The museum is conveniently located on East Cedar Street, near the M-22 bridge, in Leeland. Additional information is at the LHS website, or call 231-256-7475.
