Melvin and Ellen Cunningham lived on North Manitou Island from about 1906
until 1915. They were the parents of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy.
It is unknown if these deaths occurred during the time of 1906-1915, or the
location of the graves. Cunningham was employed as a Blacksmith during the
Stormers Logging period.
1794 - 1867
Nazaros Dona, born in Canada in 1794, lived near the Ottawa Village, near
Leland in 1844. Nazaros Dona later moved to North Manitou Island. His
occupation is listed as Fisherman on the 1870 census. Nazaros died in the island
home of Nicholas Pickerd. It is also my understanding he was buried on North
Manitou Island on Donas Point.
